Who?

Canfas Gallery is hosting a small contemporary art exhibition of miniature works, inviting UK based artists from all backgrounds and disciplines over the age of 18.

Brief:

Artists can submit up to 3 pieces of work each under the ‘miniature’ theme. It is free to apply but all pieces must be for sale for the duration of the exhibition. Please take into account that Canfas takes a commission of 45% on the final sale price. Work can be in any medium except audio/visual.

2D works can be any shape but the size is limited to a maximum of 10cm on any one side. Framing/ mount size can be bigger but the actual artwork measurements and the total external measurements (including any frame or mount) must be provided. All 2D work should be ready to hang, framed or unframed, with suitable hanging attachments in place (i.e. D-rings).
For 3D works you can choose between a maximum size of 10cm in any direction, with a second option of 1:12 scale. Display options will need to be considered. Plinths/ shelving will be available but you are recommended to provide your own display case on top of these if required (i.e. perspex box/ bell jar). Alternatively, there will be a display cabinet that works can go inside. Like 2D work, any 3D wall hung pieces will need suitable hanging attachments.
All 2D and 3D work should arrive ready to display.

You are required to submit online:*

  • 1 Image per work (up to 3 in total), no more than 5MB each
  • Details of each work: Title, Size (actual, plus external measurements of frame/ mount/ display case), Medium, and final sale price (note the Canfas commission of 45% on sales). 
  • How you intend your work to be displayed
  • Any artist links (website/ blog/ social media)

Key dates 2024:

The exhibition will run from 2nd – 31st August.
There will be a Private View for artists/friends/family/buyers on Friday 2nd August 4-6pm.
The submission deadline is 5th July. (works can be submitted any time before)
Successful artists will be contacted by 12th July.
Work will need to be delivered to the gallery by 26th July at the latest.

Artists are asked to deliver work in person or by a trusted friend/ family member to Canfas gallery during opening hours by 26th July 2024. 

Postal deliveries are also welcome (well wrapped and tracked or signed for is advised). Please note that we are not responsible for any loss or damage during transit. Make sure you include your name (and return address if applicable) with the work.

Any work which varies from the original submission may not be exhibited.

Unsold artwork will need to be collected from the gallery during opening hours up to two weeks after the exhibition.

Alternatively, for those further afield the work can be returned in the post. There will be a £3 handling fee plus the cost of 2nd Class signed for postage.

Extra info:

Canfas gallery is open Monday – Saturday 10.30am – 4pm and the exhibition will be running over one of the busiest periods during the year so will get lots of exposure. It will be promoted through the gallery’s mailing list and online through the website and social media. It will be curated by Artist and founder of Createspace Wales Rose Sanderson.
